Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Crystal Lake Tour?
It’s a filming location tour event of the primary filming location of Friday the 13th, Part 1. If you’re a super fan of the movie, you’ll want to add this experience to your bucket list!
Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco is a very popular Boy Scout camp that has been in continuous operation since 1927. The tours are fundraising events for the non-profit camp and are run by volunteers from the Sand Pond Foundation, a group of dedicated camp alumni working to ensure the camp is around for generations to come.
I would really like to attend a tour, how can I find out more?
In the past, our tours have sold out instantly. To relieve the stress of the ticket purchase process, we have moved to a lottery system. For a chance to purchase tickets to a future tour, please submit a ticket lottery entry and join our mailing list. It’s quick, easy, free and you only need to enter once. Please be sure to use an email address that you check often. Don’t worry – we won’t spam you and you can quickly unsubscribe at any time.
I can’t make it to an official tour date. Can I visit or sneak in on another day?
Sorry, no. The safety of our youth campers is priority #1. We do not allow visitors at any time outside of the official tour dates. Having trespassers on the property makes it harder for us to get approval for the official tours. Thanks for your understanding!
Can I call the camp to set up a private tour?
Please do not call the camp for anything tour related. All tour inquiries are handled through this website. Contact us if you have any questions.
What if it rains?
This event will be held rain or shine. If the event is threatened by dangerous weather, information updates will be sent to your registered email address.
Is this a walking tour?
Yes, please bring comfortable footwear and appropriate apparel for the expected weather. The tour is approximately 1 mile in length.
Will I be able to run around like a maniac with a knife and a hockey mask?
Sorry, no. This is a movie location tour. Please do not arrive in any costume. Your tour guide will lead you to each filming location so you don’t miss anything.
I’m flying in from far away. Can you recommend a hotel?
The closest hotel is the Holiday Inn Express in Newton, NJ approx 13 miles from the camp.
I don’t have a car. Can I take an Uber to the event?
You can get an Uber to the event, but it would likely be very difficult or impossible to get an Uber from the camp.
Can I take public transportation to the tour?
There are no buses or trains to the Blairstown area. The closest buses and trains will be in Hackettstown. You would need to prearrange rides from there ahead of the event.
